Cycling through the heavenly Heuvelland

Every now and then you have to climb a bit in the Limburg Hills, but you get something in return: beautiful panoramas over a characteristic landscape. You will also encounter many sights. In short: it will be a nice long day!

Old Valkenburg
The route starts at Cycle Center Valkenburg, the ideal place to rent a bike for a tour through the Heuvelland. At the Broekhem you will immediately see several monumental villas. Further on you will cycle past the neoclassical Kasteel Oost, made of marl. You will also pass Kasteel Schaloen and Kasteel Genhoes, located on the Geul. In the picturesque Oud-Valkenburg you will experience the atmosphere of times gone by. And all that within a few kilometers!

There is also plenty of cultural history to experience in villages such as Schoonbron, Etenaken and Stokhem. In Gulpen you will pass the striking church tower where the St. Peter's Church was once attached. The church tower dates from the thirteenth century and originally served as a defensive structure. Further on you will cycle through the old picturesque hamlet of Sint Antoniusbank. Towards the end of the route you will cycle past the deciduous forest of De Dellen, a nature reserve with a rich relief.
