Smallest museum
You cycle for a few kilometers along the Hollandse IJssel, passing Windlust: a restored flour mill that was originally built around 1780. You will also pass the Thief and Dijfhuisje: the only remnant of the sixteenth-century Castle of Capelle. The cottage is the smallest museum in the world and is open at set times.
Storm surge barrier
From the Algera bridge you have a beautiful view of the storm surge barrier Hollandse IJssel from 1958. On the dike along the Lek you see many characteristic farms. You will also pass the Schuurkerk Berkenwoude, which is next to the Reformed Church. It resembles a barn and dates from the time when adherents of non-officially permitted religions gathered in sermon barns and hidden churches.
