Cycling through monumental Dutch polder villages

Around the picturesque De Rijp you make a beautiful trip through a characteristic Dutch landscape. You pass the old Eilandspolder and the Wormer and Jisperveld. You also cycle through old towns full of cultural history.

Zaandam Style
On the first kilometers you immediately experience the special cultural history of this area. De Rijp, the former harbor town of Graft, Noordeinde: your camera will be working overtime with so many old buildings. In De Rijp, for example, you can see old houses in the characteristic Zaanse style. Part of this area was drained by hydraulic engineer Jan Adriaanszoon Leeghwater (1575 -1650). He was also born in Rijp.

Wormer and Jisperveld
It is wonderful to make kilometers along the Alkmaarder and Uitgeestermeer. You can also take typical Dutch photos here, for example at the Dorregeestmolen, a thatched polder mill from 1896. Further on you will pass the Wormer and Jisperveld, one large area of ditches and hundreds of meadows. You can make a nice tour around it by bike.
