Cycling through monumental Dutch polder villages

You can take a beautiful tour around the picturesque De Rijp through a characteristic Dutch landscape. You pass the old Eilandspolder and the Wormer and Jisperveld. You also cycle through old towns full of cultural history.

Zaanse Style
On the first kilometers you immediately experience the special cultural history of this area. De Rijp, the former port of Graft, Noordeinde: your camera will be working overtime with so many old buildings. In De Rijp, for example, you will see old houses in the characteristic Zaanse style. Part of this area was drained by hydraulic engineer Jan Adriaanszoon Leeghwater (1575 -1650). By the way, he was born in Rijp.

Wormer and Jisperveld
It is wonderful to travel for miles along the Alkmaarder and Uitgeestermeer. Here too you can take traditional Dutch photos, for example at the Dorregeestermolen, a thatched polder mill from 1896. Further on you pass the Wormer and Jisperveld, one large area of ditches and hundreds of meadows. You can take a nice tour around it by bike.
