Along the Zaanse Schans from Edam

In Laag-Holland, beautiful towns and old low moor areas such as the Wormer- and Jisperveld and the Oostzanerveld alternate. From the dike you can see the bird-rich Polder Zeevang. A little later you pass the unfinished Fort near Kwadijk: the access road and fort guard's house still exist. In Purmerend you drive through the old center, you will see some beautiful monumental buildings along the route. You can also enjoy the cultural history in Jisp: for example, you pass a town hall from 1650 and a house with a green wooden facade from 1656. You also drive past the Zaanse Schans with its world-famous historic street scene, full of old buildings of typical Dutch companies. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, this was the industrial area in Europe.
