Mar en Klif Visitor Center
This is the base for this route, where you will discover the history and nature of the Southwest Fryslân national landscape. The exhibition is fun for children and interesting for adults. Here you will learn everything about what you can see outside.
Oudemirdumer Cliff
A lookout point owned by the Natuurmonumenten Association because of its great earth scientific value. The viewpoint is accessible to the public and from this point there is a magnificent view over the IJsselmeer. The cliff is rich in special plants and mushrooms. Along the water you can still find the remains of the old wooden sea wall that once provided shelter against the waves.
Mirnser Cliff
Has a recreational function and is very popular with kite surfers because the water here is very shallow. Kite flying and kite flying are also popular here. At the Mokkebank there are still some remains of the pole screen that used to protect the coast.
Red Cliff
It owes its name to the color of the boulder clay from which it is made, which is red in color. Red boulder clay can only be found in Gaasterland. The red cliff is known from the slaughter at Warns, the large boulder with the saying "leaver dea as slave" speaks volumes.
