Description

Liberation Route Europe is an ever expanding international one
memorial route that connects milestones from modern European history. The route forms a link between the most important regions during the Allied advance. Alphen was liberated by the Poles on October 5, 1944, and Chaam on October 28 through good cooperation between the English and Canadian troops. Although it remained relatively quiet in the south during the war, the liberation clearly left its mark. In a material sense by blowing up the towers of the Protestant and Catholic churches as well as the monumental tower mill'Weltevreden\\\' on the Bredaseweg in Chaam. Much human suffering was also caused during the liberation. The route takes you past places with a story about the liberation.
