Description

You start this beautiful walk in the Canal Belt, which has been on the World Heritage List since 2010. On foot you have plenty of time to take a good look at those historic buildings. You cross the Singelgracht and walk into De Pijp. This district was built in the second half of the nineteenth century in what was then still a polder. A little later you walk on the Amsteldijk. Here you see the Berlage Bridge, which was completed in 1932. Across the street is the Rembrandt Tower: at 150 metres, it is the tallest skyscraper in Amsterdam. You walk through the characteristic Rivierenbuurt to the Beatrixpark. This was built in 1938 as a job creation project. On the Ruysdaelkade you walk along the Boerenwetering, a former drainage canal from the Middle Ages. You walk back to Banks Mansion via the Spiegelkwartier.
