Tour of Hauwert, Medemblik and Enkhuizen

Your route starts at Grandcafé de Zeedijk. Medemblik was once a prosperous port city. You can still see this rich history in the many beautiful facades. Then you drive a few kilometers over the West Frisian Omringdijk. From the saddle you regularly look out over the water of the IJsselmeer. You continue via the historic center of Enkhuizen, the Streekbos and the Weelen nature reserve. In West Friesland you will find plenty of views and cultural history. For example, get off at the beautiful fifteenth-century Nicholas Church in Hauwert. Cycling in the wide polders is wonderfully peaceful. You regularly see a characteristic bell-shaped farm. In't Westeinde you will pass the former Twisk Station from 1887, a stop on the Hoorn-Medemblik railway line that was in use from 1887 to 1936.
