A day full of hotspots in North Holland

This long route takes you past some highlights in North Holland. You cycle for miles through the wonderfully quiet North Holland Dune Reserve. You also pass through Alkmaar and Westzaan. So variety is an asset!

North Holland Dune Reserve
You will soon enter the North Holland Dune Reserve. You cycle for miles through a mosaic of rugged dunes and forests. You will experience unprecedented silence here. You can buy your entrance ticket at one of the entrances with PIN or credit card. The website of administrator PWN explains how to do this with your smartphone.

Picturesque Westzaan
In Alkmaar you will experience the characteristic historic atmosphere. A little later you drive past the Nijenburg Estate, an eighteenth-century country estate. It is wonderful to travel for miles along the banks of the Alkmaardermeer, while enjoying views over the water. Further on you look out over the old Wormerveer and Westzaanpolder. You pass Lettergieten 1983, a museum about printing that is open every Thursday. Westzaan is a picturesque, characteristic old ribbon village: Holland at its most beautiful!
