Walking around Knegsel

After a cup of coffee at Hotel Restaurant Steensel, you put on your walking shoes. Today you will make a round around the esdorp Knegsel. Here you can walk beautifully through the Brabantse Kempen. This route takes you through the forests and the quiet countryside, where you will see several characteristic farms. You walk through the Knegselse Heide, where you can enjoy the peace and quiet at your leisure. You will also pass through Knegsel itself. It is part of the Acht Zaligheden, beautiful villages in the heart of the Kempen, together with Eersel, Duizel, Steensel, Wintelre, Reusel, Hulsel and Netersel. In the past, all these place names ended in'sel\\\' and were called'de selligheden\\\'. But Dutch soldiers who were stationed here during the Belgian Revolution disparagingly called the villages'de armzaligheden\\\'.
