Walking around Knegsel

After a cup of coffee at Hotel Restaurant Steensel, put on your walking shoes. Today you will make a tour around Esdorp Knegsel. Here it is nice to walk through the Brabantse Kempen. This route takes you through the woods and the quiet countryside, where you will see some characteristic farms. You walk through the Knegselse Heide, where you can enjoy the peace and quiet at your leisure. You also pass through Knegsel itself. It is part of the Eight Beatitudes, beautiful villages in the heart of the Kempen, together with Eersel, Duizel, Steensel, Wintelre, Reusel, Hulsel and Netersel. In the past, all those place names ended in'sel\\\' and were called'de selligheden\\\'. But Dutch soldiers who were stationed here during the Belgian Revolution scornfully called the villages 'the wretchedness'.
