Goes is easy to discover on foot. Get out your walking shoes for a nice stroll through the cozy old town.
Goes originated in the tenth century on the edge of a creek. In the first centuries in particular, the town grew into an important trading center. During the Eighty Years' War, a fortress was built along the city, which is still partly visible. The old center of Goes enjoys a protected cityscape anyway because of the many historic buildings. For example, from the Oostwal you have a beautiful view of the Oostsingel with its beautiful houses.
City harbor Goes
The old city harbor is also a good moment for a photo. Where in the past many ships with merchandise moored, pleasure boats are now moored at the quay. A striking building is't Soepuus, a former tidal water flour mill. Further on you see another flour mill: the Koornbloem, it dates from 1801.
