De Biesbosch National Park is one of the few freshwater areas in the world where there is an ebb and flow. This route takes you around this beautiful nature reserve.
National Park
Soon after leaving the parking lot, you cross the Nieuwe Merwede with a ferry. You drive a bit along the Dordtse Biesbosch, then cycle through De Elzen and the adjacent Louisa & Cannemanspolder: two relatively new nature reserves where you will find a lot of variety.
Moerdijk bridge
You cross the Hollands Diep via the Moerdijk Bridge, from the cycle path you have plenty of time to enjoy the panorama. From the car-free Zwaluwsedijk you have a beautiful view over the Brabant polder, before you cross the Amer with a ferry. You then drive a few more kilometers through the Brabantse Biesbosch. It seems deserted here, how quiet! If you are lucky, you will see the osprey or sea eagle that occasionally hunt here.
