From the Eem valley to the Utrechtse Heuvelrug

This route lets you enjoy the open landscape in the Eem valley and the vast forests on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and around Laren. You will also see many sights, such as in Soest.

Eem valley
The route starts in the beautiful historic building of GrandCafé-Boutique Hotel Eemland. On the cozy terrace you can enjoy a coffee with something delicious before you jump on your bike. Soon you drive through the protected village of Eemnes. You can see the fifteenth-century Sint-Nicolaaskerk here. A little later you drive into the Eem valley. Wow, what a beautiful wide landscape! Along the Eemnesservaart you pass a lock and a pumping station, both buildings are monuments.

Picturesque Soest
Along the banks of the Eem you descend all the way to Soest. It is wonderful to make kilometers on the dike. On the outskirts of Soest you see many old farms: what a beautiful village this is! A little later you drive into the Boswachterij Vuursche. Castle De Hooge Vuursche, a country house from 1912, is located in the vast forests. You drive back to Eemnes via the Zuiderheide and Westerheide and the village of Blaricum.
