From the Eemvallei to the Utrechtse Heuvelrug

This route lets you enjoy the open landscape in the Eem Valley and the extensive forests on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and around Laren. You will also see many sights, such as in Soest.

Eemvallei
The route starts in the beautiful historic building of Grand Café-Boutique Hotel Eemland. You can enjoy a coffee and something tasty on the cozy terrace before you hop on your bike. You will soon drive through the protected villagescape of Eemnes. Here you see the fifteenth-century St. Nicholas Church. A little later you drive into the Eemvallei. Wow, what a beautiful vast landscape! Along the Eemnesservaart you pass a lock and pumping station, both buildings are monuments.

Picturesque Soest
Along the banks of the Eem you descend all the way to Soest. It is wonderful to travel for miles on the dike. On the edge of Soest you see many old farms: what a beautiful village this is! A little later you enter the Boswachterij Vuursche. De Hooge Vuursche Castle, a country house from 1912, is located in the vast forests. You drive back to Eemnes via the Zuiderheide and Westerheide and the village of Blaricum.
