Cycling through the woods around Bilthoven

Around Bilthoven you can take a beautiful bike ride through the vast forests on and along the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. A route full of natural beauty, tranquility and sights.

Ridderoordse Bos
The route starts at Van Der Valk Hotel De Bilt-Utrecht, a wonderful place to spend the night on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. After you have left De Bilt and Bilthoven behind you, you cycle into the Ridderoordse Bos. You drive here through a varied nature reserve with dry and wet forests, grasslands and heaths. From junction 82 to 56 you drive exactly across the border between (left) Noord-Holland and Utrecht. It is wonderfully quiet cycling here in the vast forests.

Hooge Vuursche
You can make a stopover at Pannenkoekenboerderij De Wildenburg. Enjoy a primal pancake or another tasty dish on the terrace. In Boswachterij De Vuursche deciduous and coniferous trees alternate. You can take a look at De Hooge Vuursche Castle, a beautiful country house from 1912. Further on you will pass the old Huis Pijnenburg. The last trip on this natural route is the National Military Museum, which is located on the former Soesterberg air force base.
