Lytse doarpen rintocht 2017

The Lytse Doarpen Rintocht is a Frisian phenomenon. This long walking tour from 2017 leads you through the Greidhoeke, a beautiful region in Friesland.

Greidhoeke
The route starts at B & B Theetuin Gauwe Krakeling. Enjoy a terrace with a beautiful view before you go out. Through the Lytse Doarpen Rintocht, the foundation of the same name wants to give more attention to the Greidhoeke. This region between Leeuwarden, Franeker, Bolsward and Sneek is also known as the Frisian Green Heart. You walk through a vast meadow landscape with rich terp villages. You will find peace, space and many cultural-historical sights here!

Tzum
At the beginning of the route you walk along wide canals. You will see some beautiful old farms, but also monumental churches. The Ursula Church in Welsrijp, for example, dates back to 1200. From afar you can already see the tower of the Johannes Church in Tzum looming. With its 72 meters (of which 41 meters spire!) this is the highest church tower in Friesland. You walk back to Winsum on low-traffic roads.
