Description

Just above Utrecht you cycle through a beautiful wide polder landscape. You will find plenty of peace here, but also a rich cultural history. Like on the Utrechtse Vecht. On this winding river you pass many beautiful country houses and associated parks. For example, you will pass the seventeenth-century country estate Sterreschans. Further on you look out on the Vijverhof. The current country house dates from 1866. The route leads you through Breukelen, after which you cross the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal, which was opened in 1952 by the then Queen Juliana. You will pass the Kortrijkse Molen, a polder mill from 1675. The next point of interest is Kasteel de Haar, the largest castle in the Netherlands. The castle originally dates from the fourteenth century, the current castle was rebuilt in 1892 in neo-Gothic style. The route ends at Restaurant't Ryck/Buitenplaats Kameryck.
