From Mechelen to Ghent

We leave from pleasant Mechelen via junction 93 to the land of the Duvel towards Ghent. We cycle via the Varkensstraat, Frederik de Merodestraat, Grote Markt, IJzerenleen, over the Grootbrug, Guldenstraat, Korenmarkt, Hoogstraat, straight ahead past the Brussels Gate towards the bridge over the water and then turn right onto the Stuivenbergvaart to junction 93.
Today a tough route through the Duvel country. Rest in time and enjoy the local pubs to taste the local beer.
After junction 12, in Sint Amands, you can also take a ferry to the other side of the Scheldt, where you can continue cycling through a beautiful nature reserve. The road to Ghent is also shortened.

In Vlassenbroek you can see a beautiful cruciform church along the route. We cycle further to Dendermonde, along the Scheldt. Dendermonde is a beautiful resting place to visit the local catering industry.
After this pleasant stop we cycle again, through beautiful nature, further along the Scheldt to Donk and Kalken.
After junction 25 there is a beautiful old mill. At junction 11 we continue on the highway towards Destelbergen. (between the parking lots, via the Stapsteenweg)
After the bridge, turn left to the Damvalleistraat, turn right at the Texaco and Brasserie onto the N447 and immediately cycle left onto the Scheldekant. When we arrive at the water we find junction 7.
Via junction 5 we go directly to Ghent Sint Pieters Station to buy a ticket for the return train journey. The counters are open until half past six, so we have to be on time.
We arrive in the center of Ghent and cycle to the Korenmarkt. There is a guarded bicycle shed of the same name.
The train from Ghent Sint Pieters departs from platform 3 at 8:26 p.m., changes in Antwerp at 9:23 p.m., departs from Antwerp to Roosendaal-Zevenbergen from platform 22 at 9:45 p.m., arrives in Roosendaal at 10:11 p.m.
