We leave from the cozy Mechelen via junction 93 to the land of the Duvel towards Ghent. We cycle via the Varkensstraat, Frederik de Merodestraat, Grote Markt, IJzerenleen, over the Grootbrug, Guldenstraat, Korenmarkt, Hoogstraat, straight past the Brusselpoort towards the bridge over the water and then right onto the Stuivenbergvaart to junction 93. Today a tough route through the land of the Duvel. Rest in time and enjoy the local pubs to taste the local beer. After junction 12, in Sint Amands, you can also take a ferry to the other side of the Scheldt, to continue cycling through a beautiful nature reserve. The route to Ghent is also shortened this way. (junction 67, 68, 57 and 58) In Vlassenbroek a beautiful cruciform church can be seen, along the route. We cycle further to Dendermonde, along the Scheldt. Dendermonde is a nice resting place to visit the local catering industry. After this pleasant stop we cycle again, through the beautiful countryside, along the Scheldt to Donk and Kalken. After junction 25 is a beautiful old mill. At junction 11 we go over the highway towards Destelbergen. (between the parking lots, via the Stapsteenweg) After the bridge to the left to the Damvalleistraat, at the Texaco and Brasserie right onto the N447 and immediately left again to cycle onto the Scheldekant. Arriving at the water we find junction 7. Via junction 5 we go directly to the Gent Sint Pieters station to buy a ticket for the train journey back. The ticket offices are open until half past five, so we have to be on time. We arrive in the centre of Ghent and cycle to the Korenmarkt. There is a guarded bicycle shed of the same name. The train from Ghent Sint Pieters departs from platform 3 at 20:26, changing in Antwerp at 21:23, departs from Antwerp to Roosendaal-Zevenbergen from platform 22 at 21:45, arriving in Roosendaal at 22:11.
