Culemborg still has a beautiful old city center. Get out your walking shoes and come and experience the charm of this cozy Gelderland town for yourself.
Stolpersteine
At the Markt you can see many more beautiful old buildings, such as the sixteenth-century town hall. The Barbarakerk dates from 1886. In the Kattestraat is one of the many Stolpersteine (memorials for all victims of National Socialism) by the German artist Gunter Demnig.
Ancient city gate
Just outside the city you walk a bit on the dike. You walk through a mosaic of fruit orchards and flowery grasslands. Here you have beautiful views over the water and Culemborg. It is wonderful to continue walking in this quiet rural area. A little later you walk back into the historic city center. You will see, among other things, the ancient Lanxmeerpoort, a gem. It is the only remaining city gate of the former fortress.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
