Description
Leiden is ideal to explore from a bicycle saddle. In this old city you cycle past many sights. You also drive a few kilometers along the beautiful coastal strip around Katwijk.
Dutch Dune
After a few kilometers you enter the Hollands Duin. Here you drive through a mosaic of sheltered forests, open plains and wet dune valleys. From the high dune tops you have beautiful views of the beach. And on the North Sea, where the surf is music to many people's ears. Halfway you drive through the former fishing village of Katwijk.
Historical Leiden
Leiden is not only one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands, but also one of the most beautiful. You will see many sights there. Such as the Rembrandt Bridge that spans the Galgewater. It is a replica of a seventeenth-century bridge that was located here. On the quay is De Put, a corn mill from 1619. You will also see the Morspoort from 1669. Further on you will pass two polder mills: the Kikkermolen dates from 1752, the Hoop Doet Leven from 1783.
