This route takes you through the natural countryside between Zoetermeer and Waddinxveen. A wonderful trip through the surprisingly quiet polders.
Bentwoud
The route starts at Grand Café Roos Eten & Drinken, a cozy spot where you experience a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. You will soon drive through the Bentwoud, a young forest in which space has also been made for flower-rich grasslands and swamps. With over 800 hectares, this is the largest contiguous forest area in the Randstad. In Moerkapelle you can see the monumental village church that originally dates from 1662.
Rottemeren
It is wonderful to travel for miles along the green banks of the Rotte, an old peat river, and the Rottemeren. Here you can enjoy the characteristically vast Dutch landscape. You will see several mills, such as the Tweemanspolder no. 4 from 1722. You will also pass the Eendrachtsmolen from 1727 that drained the Eendragtspolder. You drive through the Gouwebos, a small urban forest near Waddinxveen where alders, birches and poplars grow in the watery open fields.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
