Bird watching route Zandpolder and Nollenland

Between Callantsoog and Groote Keeten you will find the special nature reserves Zandpolder and Nollenland. One ancient, the other new, but both loved by birds. A paradise for nature lovers!

Zandpolder
From your starting point, Museum Farm Tante Jaantje, you walk over the old dikes and quiet country roads behind the North Holland coast. In the spring there are plenty of tulips, daffodils and hyacinths in the bulb fields. But you will also find very special new nature, such as the Zandpolder. Former bulb fields have made way for rare plants here. Birds know how to find this area, such as waders, ducks and herons. You can see them well while walking!

Nollenland
The Zandpolder is located on the edge of another special nature reserve: the Nollenland near Abbestede. You will hardly find natural dunes here, those of Callantsoog are artificial. But at this small hamlet, nolls suddenly appear: old dunes that you used to encounter everywhere here. The area has been expanded by nature managers and puddles have been dug to recreate the gullies of the past. Highly recommended for bird watchers, especially during migration time.
