Cycling along the banks of the IJmeer

A beautiful route along the coast of the IJmeer to Waterland, a polder-rich region where historic towns such as Monnickendam are located. Bird watchers will get their money's worth here. The starting point of this route is EuropaParcs Poort van Amsterdam in Uitdam. You drive along the banks of the IJmeer towards Amsterdam. While you're on your bike, you can see the city coming closer from the polder, a unique experience! You pass the idyllic Durgerdam. You then drive through an open peat meadow landscape with wide views. A little later you cycle through the old town of Monnickendam where you almost stumble over the monumental buildings: you see beautiful old buildings with characteristic facades.
