Description
A day in the Dutch dunes: always good. This route takes you from Uitgeest to the beautiful North Holland Dune Reserve.
Large Lime Polder
The route starts at Bistro Nadar, a cozy living room restaurant in the center of Uitgeest. Enjoy a coffee and cake or a delicious lunch here before departure. On the outskirts of Uitgeest you drive past De Dog, a polder mill from 1896. Further on is a polder mill that is - with a sense of humor - called De Kat. Then you drive into the Groot-Limmerpolder, a wide landscape where you can enjoy the peace and high Dutch skies.
North Holland Dune Reserve
Just past Castricum you enter the North Holland Dune Reserve. This nature reserve consists of an alternation of dune tops, bushes and an unprecedented silence. You can buy your ticket at one of the entrances with a pin or credit card. The site of the PWN administrator explains how to do this using your smartphone. A little further on, the port of IJmuiden awaits you: an impressive industrial and historical scene!
