A day in the Dutch dunes: always good. This route takes you from Uitgeest to the beautiful North Holland Dune Reserve.
Great Limmerpolder
On the edge of Uitgeest you drive past De Dog, a polder mill from 1896. Further on is a polder mill that is – with a sense of humor – called De Kat. Then you drive into the Groot-Limmerpolder, a wide landscape where you can enjoy the peace and high Dutch skies.
North Holland Dune Reserve
Just past Castricum you enter the North Holland Dune Reserve. This nature reserve consists of an alternation of dune tops, woods and an unprecedented silence. You can buy your entrance ticket at one of the entrances with a debit or credit card. On the website of administrator PWN it is explained how to do this with the help of your smartphone. Further on you will see the port of IJmuiden: an impressive industrial and historical scene!
