You can take a wonderful bike ride through the extensive polders around Uitgeest. A route full of peace and views over the water. You will also pass some historical sights.
Old mills
The route starts at Bistro Nadar, a cozy living room restaurant in the center of Uitgeest. Enjoy a coffee and pastry or a tasty lunch here before departure. At the Uitgeestermeer you drive onto the Zwaansmeerpad. From this lovely cycle path you have a beautiful view of the rippling water. You will also see the Tweede Broeker, a beautiful thatched polder mill from 1631. Further on you will pass the De Hoop industrial heritage park.
Fort aan den Ham
It is wonderful to cycle miles on the cycle path along the Krommeniepolder and the Markervaart. You enjoy the panoramic views and the monumental buildings. For example, you see De Woudaap, a polder mill dating from 1651. In Krommeniedijk you can admire the Reformed Church from 1755, a beautiful sight! You then pass three forts from the Defense Line of Amsterdam, including Fort aan den Ham from 1903. This fort houses a museum that is regularly open.
