Brouwershaven, a gem on the Grevelingenmeer

From Renesse you can drive straight into the vast landscape of Schouwen-Duiveland. An ideal cycling area where peace and views go hand in hand. You will also find a lot of cultural history there, such as in the former fortified town of Brouwershaven.

Ellemeet
The route starts at Hotel Blooker, a hotel where everything revolves around cycling and relaxation. A little later you drive through Ellemeet, a village that originated in the twelfth century at a location a few hundred meters further south. Due to flooding and war violence, the villagers settled a little further north on a higher piece of land. In the polder you have beautiful views and enjoy the high Dutch skies. How wonderfully peaceful it is here!

Picturesque Brouwershaven
On the east side of the island you cycle along the Slikken van Bommenede. This nature reserve is known as a bird nursery, so bring your binoculars! Brouwershaven is a gem on the Grevelingenmeer. The old city center within the former fortress walls enjoys a protected cityscape. Switch back for a moment to enjoy the unique historical atmosphere. Then you drive many kilometers along the banks of the Grevelingenmeer and the North Sea. How nice to get a breath of fresh air here!
