Description

The Nidda Route follows the romantic River Nidda. The creek rises at an altitude of over 700 m in the center of the volcanic Vogelsberg and flows into the Main after almost 100 km at Frankfurt-Höchst. The parallel cycle path is well marked and easy to cycle: from Scots to Bad Vilbel on cycle route R4, then via the Grüngürtelradweg. In 2012, it received a continuous seal of approval as a regional park route Nidda. It leads through diverse landscapes such as forests and waterways Hohen Vogelsberg, the richly structured Unteren Vogelsberg with meadows, hedges and orchards and the golden Wetterau with fields and wet meadows. Bird watching, adventure on the river – The river shows the cyclist a bluffing nature and sportsmanship, such as bird watching and adventure on the river. It ends in the Rhein-Main-Ebene, today one of the most densely populated cultural areas in Central Europe.

The change of scenery can be well experienced on the Nidda cycle path. And on the Nidda itself, pre-existing and current renaturations are recognizable in several places, which have returned to the river some of its original dynamism and biodiversity. The places that offer rest and accommodation have a lot of charm. Fairytale are Staden, the"Little Venice\\\" of Wetterau, and Bad Salzhausen, the smallest spa town in Hessen. The basilica in Ilbenstadt is impressive. Typical half-timbered towns are Schotten and Nidda. In other places, such as in Bad Vilbel, you can discover old town centers and remains of the Roman settlement.

Finally, in the area of the city of Frankfurt, the Nidda with the cycle path and adjacent parks forms a green vein through the residential area. What would the Frankfurt green belt be without the Nidda? And on the Wörthspitze, where the Nidda flows, there is an arch bridge over the river and houseboats in the water. The old town invites you to visit and the highest gastronomy offers you the opportunity to rest - in summer with beer gardens on the Schlossplatz.
