Put on your walking shoes and walk from the Mortelse Peel into the beautiful De Stippelberg nature reserve. A wonderful route to relax.
Dots
De Stippelberg nature reserve is named after the many sand hills that dot the landscape like dots. There used to be a vast heath here, but from the end of the nineteenth century Douglas fir and Japanese larch were planted here for mining. The dead wood can remain here to attract insects, mushrooms and mosses, which in turn attract other animals. Open spaces are created to give native trees a chance to germinate.
Beast field
The route also takes you through Het Beestenveld, a nature reserve on the north side of De Stippelberg. Here too you mainly walk between fragrant conifers. And just like in De Stippelberg, it is wonderfully quiet here. Ideal for a nice chat with family and friends.
