Country houses in the woods
You start your trip in the middle of the National Park De Utrechtse Heuvelrug. From here you cycle along vast moors that change into a lively forest area. After about 4 kilometers of cycling, you will pass Huize't Stort. This country house and accompanying coach house were built in 1903, at a time when many country houses were built here. The house has been renovated several times over the centuries. A little further on you can admire Buitenplaats De Hoog. In 1925, this country house was expanded into the current building. The mansion is inhabited today after years of being used as a boarding school.

A break at't Wapen van Bunnik
You then cycle on to Bunnik, where you can take a break at't Wapen van Bunnik. On the spacious terrace you can catch your breath with a tasty snack and a drink. When you have gained enough energy again, you continue cycling past Zeist and through the woods of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug to the starting point of the route. From Bunnik you can also follow route 566146.

Castle Sterkenburg
Sterkenburg Castle is centrally located on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug between the towns of Doorn and Werkhoven. The oldest mention of this knight's court town dates from 1261. In 1841 the castle was extensively renovated, giving it its current appearance. The castle then served as a summer residence for the wealthy Kneppelhout family. From 1870 this house was permanently inhabited by this family.
