Discover the Nieuwkoop lakes

This route takes you through the polders around Bodegraven, Woerden and Nieuwkoop. You will cycle through Kamerik, among other places. Along the waterway you will see beautiful monumental buildings. Further on you will cycle through the historic city centre of Woerden. On the Rijnstraat you will see several seventeenth-century buildings, the Saint Bonaventura Church from 1892 and the Castle of Woerden. The fortress originally dates from 1415 and was built to defend Woerden against the Bishop of Utrecht. That is why the castle is located on the east side of the city. Along the Oude Rijn you cycle to Bodegraven, the next picturesque town. In Zwammerdam you turn off towards Nieuwkoop. From the cycle path you regularly look out over the Nieuwkoopse Plassen. Via the old hamlet Woerdense Verlaat you cycle back to Restaurant't Ryck/Buitenplaats Kameryck.
