Discover the Nieuwkoopse Plassen

This route takes you through the polders around Bodegraven, Woerden and Nieuwkoop. You drive through Kamerik, among other places. You will see beautiful monumental buildings along the wetering. Further on you drive through the historic city center of Woerden. On the Rijnstraat you will see some seventeenth-century buildings, the Heilige-Bonaventura Church from 1892 and the Woerden Castle. The fortress originally dates from 1415 and was built to defend Woerden against the bishop of Utrecht. That is why the castle is located on the east side of the city. You cycle along the Oude Rijn to Bodegraven, the next picturesque town. In Zwammerdam you turn towards Nieuwkoop. From the cycle path you regularly look out over the Nieuwkoopse Plassen. Via the old hamlet of Woerdense Verlaat you drive back to Restaurant't Ryck/Buitenplaats Kameryck.
