Out and about in the cycling paradise of the Achterhoek

Large nature reserves may not be on your route, but you will experience plenty of natural beauty in the Achterhoek scenic landscape. You will also find special historical heritage, such as in Ruurlo and Vorden.

Ruurlo Castle
The route starts at Restaurant & Spelerij De Witte Wieven. You can come here for a meal or a cup of coffee with a local specialty, such as the Zwiepse bolus or a krentewegge. Tasty! In Ruurlo you will see the fourteenth-century village church and the Agneta, a mill from 1851. Ruurlo Castle is just outside the village. Further along is the largest hedge maze in the world. Do you dare to enter the maze?

Den Bramel
A little later you will see Molen Ons Belang from 1890 appear on the horizon. Further on you pass Huis Kieftskamp from 1776. You also cycle past another Vorden castle: Den Bramel, which originally dates from the fourteenth century. The current building was built in 1726. In Almen you can still taste the atmosphere of the past in the village center. The village church originally dates from the fourteenth century. At De Witte Wieven it is time for a terrace again.
