Picturesque Alblasserdam
Your route starts at De Heeren van Ambacht, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee before you set off. The day is devoted to windmills, but first you cycle to Alblasserdam and the'three river point\\\' near Zwijndrecht. The rivers Noord, Oude Maas and Beneden-Merwede come together here. It is the busiest shipping point in the Netherlands, so you can see numerous (cargo) ships passing by!
Kinderdijk
Then you will discover the Kinderdijkse Molens, nineteen polder mills that form two mill corridors. They were built in the eighteenth century to improve the drainage of the Alblasserwaard and are now on the World Heritage List. You look out over the Hooge Boezem of the Overwaard, one of the polders that is drained by the windmills. A beautiful route along the water of the Alblas still leads you to the Kooijwijkse Molen, a polder mill from 1866.
