The Drents-Friese Wold is a beautiful cycling area. Here you drive through vast forests, a perfect environment for a day of relaxation. Cycling along the edge of the Doldersummerveld you have a beautiful view over the heath. A little later you drive into the vast stream valley landscape around the Vledder Aa. Wilhelminaoord was founded by the Society of Benevolence, which started developing this region in 1818 to offer underprivileged city dwellers a new opportunity. Between junctions 42 and 13 you will see three authentic monumental colony houses on the left of the road. In Noordwolde you will pass the Windlust, a corn mill from 1859. On the edge of the village you will see the beautiful Protestant Church from 1640. Further on you will pass Park Drentheland, an ideal base for exploring this region.
