The Drents-Friese Wold is a beautifully varied cycling area. You will find plenty of natural beauty and nice old villages here.

From the parking lot near Appelscha you can drive straight into the Drents-Friese Wold. A vast national park consisting of forests, heaths and stream valley grasslands. You won't have any trouble shifting down a gear here. Cycling along the edge of the Doldersummerveld you have a beautiful view over the heath. A little later you enter the wide stream valley landscape around the Vledder Aa. What a variety!

Wilhelminaoord was founded by the Society of Benevolence, which started developing this region in 1818 to offer underprivileged city dwellers a new opportunity. Between nodes 42 and 13 you will see three authentic monumental colony houses on the left side of the road. On the edge of this village is the Protestant Church from 1640. You drive back through the woods to the starting point.
