Description
Are you crazy about green areas and beautiful views? Then you really should take a walk via the Heuvelland walking network. Along the route you will find vast forests, untouched nature reserves and on the Heuvelland flanks you can even see vineyards. Add beautiful views and you have a wonderful walk.
Climbing and descending while hiking
With the Heuvelland hiking network you will discover the rolling hills of the Heuvelland. These hills are part of a large-scale relief landscape that also includes the Houtland and the French Westhoek. So prepare yourself for a tough hike with climbs and descents. Originally, the Heuvelland was a wooded area, but nowadays only the hilltops are covered with trees. The remaining forests were removed to make arable farming possible and further forests were also lost due to fighting in the First World War. Now new forests are slowly being planted again.
The Lijstermolen
Along the way you will walk past the Lijstermolen, a wooden windmill that was originally built in Beernem. In 1957 the parts of the mill were moved to the current location and between 1958 and 1960 the mill was built.
Entre-deux-monts Winery
You will also walk along the Entre-deux-monts vineyard. This vineyard is 4.5 hectares in size and a wine cellar is located between the vines of the domain. The wine is also made and matured at the same location. Take a guided tour and take a walk between the vines. Then take a look at the production area to learn more about the wine making process and then taste the wine. www.entre-deux-monts.be
