Description
Do you love green areas and beautiful views? Then you really should take a walk through the Heuvelland walking network. Along the course you will find vast forests, unspoilt nature reserves and on the hills of Heuvelland you can even see vineyards. Add to that beautiful views and you have a beautiful walk.
Climbing and descending while hiking
With the Heuvelland walking network you can discover the rolling hills of the Heuvelland. These hills are part of a large-scale relief-rich landscape that also includes the Houtland and the French Westhoek. So prepare yourself for a tough hike with climbs and descents. Originally the Heuvelland was a wooded area, but nowadays only the hilltops are covered with trees. The other forests have been removed to allow for arable farming and forests have also been lost due to fighting in the First World War. Now new forests are slowly being planted again.
The Thrush Mill
Along the way you will walk past the Lijstermolen, a wooden windmill that was originally built in Beernem. In 1957 the parts of the mill were moved to the current location and the mill was built up between 1958 and 1960.
Winery Entre-deux-monts
You also walk along the wine estate Entre-deux-monts. This vineyard is 4.5 hectares in size and a wine cellar is located between the vines of the domain. The wine is also made and aged in the same place. Take a guided tour and take a walk among the vines. Then you take a look at the production room to learn more about the wine making process and then taste the wine. www.entre-deux-monts.be
