East Zeeuws-Vlaanderen is a characteristic region of beautiful views, surprising nature and, of course, rising water. Get on your bike and come and experience it for yourself!
Western Scheldt
You drive for miles on the dike that runs along the Western Scheldt. So get a breath of fresh air with beautiful views over the water and the ships on their way to Antwerp. On the other side of the dike is the old polder landscape of Ossenisse. The polders here date from the Middle Ages, which is special! There are many orchards to be found, and you will also pass through characteristic hamlets such as Knuitershoek, Zeedorp and Oude Stoof.
drowned land
Along the way you will see some sights, such as old farms and churches. You will also pass Vogelzicht, a polder mill from 1865. At the end of your route you will cycle past the Verdronken Land van Saeftinghe, the largest brackish water marsh in Europe. Excursions through this unique nature reserve are organized from the visitor center at Emmadorp.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
