Description
A wonderful voyage of discovery through beautiful Marken. This small island is still very authentic and has many beautiful places. With this route you will see them all! This beautiful walking route through Marken leads you past all the beautiful places. This was still a real island until 1957, when the dike was built that connects Marken with the mainland. In the Middle Ages, Marken was inhabited by monks from Friesland. It later grew into a fishing village, complete with wharves and characteristic wooden houses on stilts. Marken really still feels like an island, you will soon notice that when you set out. The most beautiful spot on your route is Het Paard van Marken, the striking lighthouse from 1839.
