Tour of Utrecht from IJsselstein

After a short cut through the Nedereindse Plas you will be on the other side of Nieuwegein at the Lek Canal, which will lead you to Utrecht. You cycle past Lunet I and Lunet 2, part of the four Lunets on the Houtense Vlakte. This higher-lying area was protected by the Lunets, which together form a single defence. Here you cycle through the water-rich Beatrix Park and along the Leidse Rijn. Via the Meern you drive straight into the polder. There you pick up the Oude Rijn to Harmelen, here you see some ancient stately buildings and farms. A nice varied route!
