The Witte Veen and the Buurserbeek

You can enjoy beautiful walks in the village of Buurse. Discover the Witte Veen, the winding Buurserbeek with its authentic farms and of course Buurse itself. A wonderful day out. You set off just outside the hamlet of Den Braam. Just before the German border you walk through the Witte Veen, this heathland and forest area used to be a popular border crossing for smugglers. When you cross the Buurserbeek you will see the beautiful Saxon farms of Den Braam appear again, hidden between the trees. The route is divided into two loops, with your starting point as the intersection. Stop by for a pancake at Hooge Esch Buurse: they say you can enjoy the tastiest pancakes in the whole of the Netherlands here! You walk close to the Buurserbeek and then walk back via Buurse, at the highest place in the area: approximately 40 meters above sea level.
