This route allows you to enjoy Drenthe's rich natural beauty and culture. First, you'll drive to Diever. Here you'll see characteristic farms, the medieval St. Pancratius Church, and the former Schultehuis, which dates back to 1604. Wapserveen is a ribbon village where authentic hall-style farmhouses still stand. You can also see a belfry from 1775 here. This belfry, a more affordable alternative to the more expensive church tower, is the last original example in Drenthe. The bell itself dates from after World War II; the original copper bell was stolen by the German occupiers. Next, you'll drive through Frederiksoord. At Museum De Proefkolonie, you'll learn more about the history of this village, founded by the Society of Benevolence. Via Vledder and the Drents-Friese Wold National Park, you'll return to the 't Wildryck estate. Time for a drink on a terrace.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
