Amerongse Berg walk

This route takes you from Holiday Park De Ossenberg through the countryside between Veenendaal and Amerongen. First, you head east to De Laan Estate. Here you'll find a mix of forest, farmland, and heathland. You'll walk along the Utrechtse Spoor railway line. This isn't a former railway line, but an old country road. Further on, you'll see another piece of cultural history. You'll walk along the Slaperdijk, built here in 1653. This dike was constructed as a precaution to limit flooding in the event of a dike breach between Wageningen and Grebbeberg. The second section of the route takes you through the Amerongse Bos, the former hunting grounds of Amerongen Castle. Now you can enjoy the unparalleled tranquility and natural beauty here. The route ends with a drink at Horeca De Bosrand.
