The Bever Route - history and beautiful nature reserves on Goeree

It is wonderful to cycle across the head of Goeree-Overflakkee. This route takes you through the picturesque towns of Ouddorp and Stellendam. You will also pass through the Dunes of Goeree, a beautiful nature reserve.

The Schans
The route starts in Ouddorp at De Bever Verhuur. You can rent bicycles here, they are well maintained and in excellent condition. Further on you will pass De Hoop, a flour mill from 1845. Cycling over the dike you will see the Grevelingenmeer on your right. On the left is De Schans, a former military fort from 1665. You cycle through the polder to Stellendam where you will see Molen Korenlust from 1865, among other things.

Dunes of Goeree
From the Deltahaven you enter the Duinen van Goeree after Havenhoofd: a nature reserve where beach and forest alternate. You can fully enjoy nature here. It is wonderfully quiet in the woods. On the beach you can get a breath of fresh air with the sound of the surf as background music. How delicious do you want it? The route ends again at De Bever Verhuur. After your wonderful day you can return your rental bike here.

NB; From node 71 you can turn left into a beautiful nature reserve. This area is worth walking through.
