There is plenty of cultural history to experience in the Achterhoek. This route takes you past Ruurlo Castle, the Lebbenbrugge Farm Museum and through the picturesque towns of Ruurlo and Borculo.
Scenery landscape
The route starts and ends at TOP Berkel Palace on the edge of Borculo. You immediately drive into the Achterhoek scenic landscape. While cycling you enjoy views of hedgerows, streams and forests. You regularly pass a characteristic Saxon farm. In the middle of the Ruurlose forests you can enjoy a delicious pancake at De Heikamp. After all, De Heikamp is the Dutch Pancake Baking Champion!
Borculo aan de Berkel
Ruurlo is a charming town where you will experience a wonderfully authentic atmosphere. You can also admire some beautiful old buildings there. Further on you will pass the Lebbenbrugge Farm Museum. This centuries-old Saxon farm is located on the De Slinge stream: a beautiful photo opportunity! Borculo is a town that was granted city rights in 1375. Prince William V of Orange-Nassau purchased the manor of Borculo in 1777. As a result, King Willem-Alexander still carries the title 'Lord of Borculo'.
