Description
A wonderfully rural walk through a beautiful authentic part of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. Along the way you will encounter many waters, beautiful in every season. Bring binoculars, because there are many birds to spot here!
Old Stew
The route takes you through the old hamlet of Oude Stoof, named after the madder stove that used to be located here opposite the land store. The madder plant was already cultivated in this region in the 14th century, for the dye Turkish red.
Stallion Dyke
Oude Stoof is located exactly at the junction between this creek and the Oude Haven watercourse. You soon cross the Guil. The route leads you further through the Hengstdijkpolder, one of the most beautiful parts of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. You will see many waterfowl in the creek water remnant with the appropriate name Vogel. The village of Hengstdijk is also special. It dates back to the twelfth century, making it one of the oldest villages in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen!
