Cycling route: 556011

A day out in Zeeland? Then cycle this route through the wide polders on Zuid-Beveland. You can enjoy beautiful views over the Veerse Meer. And the tranquility, especially because there are hardly any villages on your route!
Middle plates
You cross De Piet, a side arm of the Veerse Meer. To the right you look out over the vast polder, to the left of the road you see the woods of nature reserve De Piet. Further on you will see Middelplaat, a few uninhabited islands in the Veerse Meer. Well, uninhabited: many breeding birds live there. And a herd of Haflinger ponies. Bring your binoculars to spot the islanders!
Never thought
In the Heerenpolder you pass De Weel, a former tidal channel that came to lie within the dikes in 1649. Further on you pass two beautiful flour mills. First you see the Nooit Gedacht from 1872. A little later you drive past the Five Brothers, which was built in 1851.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
