You also pass through both halves of Spaarndam, a village that is divided in two by the Spaarne river. The part on the left bank is the oldest. Here you will see, among other things, the Oude Kerk from 1627. Further on is the Slokop, a thatched polder mill from 1877.
Historic Haarlem
The route also takes you through Haarlem, the charming city that has almost 1200 national monuments! Switch back for a moment and enjoy the many historic buildings and the cozy atmosphere at your leisure. Then you drive a bit through the dunes and forests on the edge of the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park. It is wonderful to cycle here in the shelter. The miles seem to pass by themselves.
