Description

From Oudewater you drive a beautiful route through the vast peat area in the Groene Hart. In the old Montfoort you pass the iconic town hall with the IJsselpoort, a beautiful monument from the fourteenth century. You also pass the Sint-Janskerk from 1500. In the Molenstraat you see remains of the old city wall. You also pass De Valk, a polder mill from 1753. IJsselstein is also more than worth a visit. In the historic center you imagine yourself in the Middle Ages. In the polder you come through Lopikerkapel, a picturesque ribbon village. Between junctions 84 and 54 you see centuries-old farms. Oudewater is the oldest town in the Groene Hart, with the fifteenth-century Grote or Sint-Michaëlskerk. Stop along the way at Gasterij de Toren!
