From Putten you can walk straight into the Sprielderbos: one of the oldest forests in the Netherlands. And most beautiful! A wonderful route to switch back completely and enjoy nature.
Dancing trees
The Sprielder is a wonderfully wild part of the Netherlands. In this primeval forest, nature is allowed to take its course. It is known as 'the forest of dancing trees' and with a little imagination the winding tree trunks do indeed appear to be dancing. All straight trees were cut down, that's why! In places where the sun manages to penetrate the canopy of birches and oaks, you see a beautiful play of light and shadow.
Great Spriel
In the Sprielderbos you will discover the Groot Spriel estate. The country house, built in neo-Renaissance style, dates from 1880. A little further on you walk past the geographical center of the Netherlands. Well, it's one of the possible centers of gravity, depending on how you make the calculation. At this spot there is a boulder with an iron ring.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
