Description
In Friesland you can cycle through a wonderfully wide and water-rich landscape. This route takes you through picturesque old towns. You also drive a bit along the Sneekermeer area.
Old stints
Just before terp village Rauwerd you pass the former Jongema State. Of these stins, only the gatehouse from 1603 has been preserved. In beautiful Akkrum you can make a pit stop at Eetcafé Kromme Knilles. A real village pub with a cozy living room atmosphere and the food (according to many reviews) is delicious!
Salt pool
In Goingarijp you can admire the church building from 1770. Just past the village you look out over the Zoutpoel: a lake that is part of the Sneekermeer area. Terhorne is located on the corner of a land reclamation from the twelfth century. According to the inhabitants of this village, the children's book series De Kameleon takes place here. Roordahuizum and Wirdum are beautiful villages on the last part of your route. You can admire ancient churches, among other things.
