Description
On to Warmond
The starting point of this route is on the edge of Sassenheim. In the 17th and 18th centuries, wealthy merchants built their summer homes here. Those beautiful buildings have almost all disappeared and nothing is left of the flower bulb industry from the 19th century in this village. From here you set course for Warmond. This village is beautifully situated on an old beach wall on the Kagerplassen. You will also find beautiful centuries-old houses and other buildings there. Warmond enjoys a protected village view.
Huys in Warmont
The gem of Warmond is Huys te Warmont. This estate is located among greenery on the edge of Warmond. The foundations of the manor date from the 12th or 13th century. The house was destroyed during the Eighty Years' War, but was later rebuilt. From Warmond you walk back to the edge of Sassenheim. You can easily park your car at the start and end points of the route and then set off.
The Kagerplassen
On this route you cycle just short of the Kagerplassen. Deviate from the route if you want to briefly enjoy the water at the edge of these lakes. On nice days the lakes are teeming with sailing boats sailing from one bank to the other. There are a few islands with two monumental mills in the middle of the lakes.
