Description

This route takes you over and along the Brabantse Wal. This steep edge forms the sudden transition between the high Brabant sandy soils on the east side and the low-lying sea clay area of the Scheldt in the west. This beautiful route takes you through forests and polders in the Dutch-Belgian border area from the border village of Putte, on the Brabantse Wal. From there you cycle into the Moretusbos, a cross-border forest. Just over the border you pass Kasteel Ravenhorst, a country house with a centuries-old history. Further on you cycle through the picturesque village of Zandvliet, which is located on the Scheldt-Rhine Canal. A little later you cycle through the forests of the border park De Zoom-Kalmthoutse Heide back to Putte. This former low moor area has grown over time into a large heath with fens and pine forests.
